Grandma's gift

Today Mateo received a package from my mom that was out of the blue, which of course is the best kind of gift to get.  Matt and I both love to shop online, so getting boxes at our door are - unfortunately - not rare, but nevertheless whenever Mateo sees one the excitement is uncontainable...especially when we tell him it's for him.  Here you can see the excitement unfold!  Thanks, grandma!

Daddy Tuesdays

It's only the 6th day and I'm already questioning if I have enough kid content to post something everyday!  But, that's a minor problem that I'm pretty sure I can handle.  Part of my solution is to make Tuesdays "Daddy Tuesdays" where Matt submits pictures for us to see.  To the right you can see a typical mealtime with Elise.  One word sums it up: messy.
We've had a few snow days in the past couple of weeks.  Here are Elise and Mateo surveying the snow-covered land.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is more cute than seeing Matt do Elise's hair.  And he does a pretty darn good job if you ask me!

And, as the baseball season approaches, Elise wears the Panda hat to wish the Giants a good start.  And since she's already an Angel, our household teams are covered!

Mateo's 4th birthday!

Our little guy turned 4 back in January...just took me a while to actually organize the pictures enough to blog about it.  He got his first big boy bike which was a big surprise for him!
On his actual birthday he got to pick out what he wanted for breakfast and dinner.  So, of course he picked pancakes for breakfast, and cheeseburgers and fries for dinner.  He also got an ice cream cake and when we went to order it I let him pick out the flavor.  "Green, because it's my favorite color!"  Thank goodness for mint chocolate chip.  Good choice, Mateo!  (Don't ask what's going on with Elise's hair here...I don't remember and I don't think I want to!)

To keep the celebration going, we had a monster truck themed birthday party for him at a gymnastics place.  It was complete with PB & Monster Jam sandwiches (get it??), checkered flag cupcakes, and little boys and girls revved up and ready to work off some sugar!  As you will see, the adults got in on the fun too!  Another year, Mateo.  You can stop growing up now...seriously.

The real Bob the Builder

Our friends Nick and Alicia are remodeling their kitchen and they needed a little help so they called on the best builder in town...Mateo of course.  He was definitely up for the job.  He packed up all of his tools and we headed there this afternoon to lend a hand.  Nick was hammering, sawing, and measuring.  It was a dream come true for out little fix-it guru.  Elise got in on the action too.  But mostly us girls hung out by the fire.  It was nice to visit as we don't see them often.

Hmm...

Should I be worried? ;)

First homework

Mateo had his first homework assignment this past week.  It was really cute to see him work hard on it and be proud to finish it.  If only homework could always be coloring!  The best part was when I showed him this picture the next day.  He said, "that's me and my e-mail!"

Welcome to Blog-A-Day March!

I have a lofty goal this month: to pay more attention to this blog and spend some creative time devoting myself to it, and hopefully in the process bring joy to its readers.  In turn, the ultimate goal is to bring more happiness and fulfillment to myself.  So, I will post something each day this month.  Who knows, maybe it will inspire me to want to document more, as we all know how kids grow up so fast.

For my first post on the first day of this month, I want to share some news that many know already, but some do not...

Matt and I are getting married!  Yes, finally!  (Pigs are flying by me as I type.)  Needless to say, we are thrilled and now comes the fun part...planning a celebration!  Now, this blog is called Mateo & Elise, not Mateo & Elise's mommy and daddy wedding.  So, you will not here all about it here.  But of course this changes our family in the most positive way and I just had to share!
Here is a not-so-good iPhone picture taken the night Matt proposed.  It's the only one we have, so I had to use it.  But, one of the most important things to take away from the picture is...yes, those are doughnuts on the table.  They were warm and were dunked in a custard dip.  But that's not the only reason why we are happy here...
Here's my ring.  It was Matt's grandmother's.  It's vintage. It's beautiful, and I love it!
